Marvelous Mimi...

So this post is dedicated to my loving grandmother that has played such a huge part in my life.  Mimi has been there for me through many tough times in my life, and the bond between her, my Mom, and I could not be stronger...Josh jokes that we are "too close", but it's something that he has grown to appreciate.  Recently Mimi received news from her eye doctor that there was a mass found on the back of her eyeball, which could be cancerous.  Defined as "ocular melanoma", this condition could actually be quite devastating in that it tends to spread to the liver and lungs.  Although it can be treated, if it does spread, the results tend to be fatal.  At this point, we are needing all of the prayers we can possibly get in hopes for a good result from her doctor this coming Tuesday.  I know that God has been with our family so far because it was his doing that she even went to the eye doctor in the first place.  Mimi has had 20-20 vision and has not needed to regularly see an eye doctor. However, Ty had been referred to an eye doctor, which essentially led my mom and eventually Mimi to go over and also see this doctor.  It was through this process, that the mass was caught.  Often times, this type of cancer goes unnoticed because there are no symptoms.  So again, I believe that it was an act of God that she went to the doctor to begin with and my hope is that he will bring good results to this process. However, it is in God's hands.  Unfortunately the doctor that she is seeing is a little neglectful.  For instance, she went to a specialist last week and the doctor confirmed that it was not cancerous and he didn't see anything to be concerned about. So of course, my whole family breathed a big sigh of belief.  Well, not too fast....once the results were sent back to the original doctor, it was found that the so called "specialist" looked at the wrong eye. Wow.  Anyway, she is going back to get the right eye checked, but will also get another opinion just to be on the safe side as well.  I know a lot of my friends know Mimi and I ask you to pray for her during this stressful time. If you don't know Mimi, pray out of the goodness of your heart.

On a lighter note, I had my 34 week appointment today, which went really well.  My doctor gave me a "gold star" because my weight gain is perfect, my blood pressure is great, and no protein in my pee sample :) andddddd...the fun begins at my appointment in 1 1/2 weeks because I will begin to be "checked" to dilation.  Woo hoo! So, 5 weeks to go!

This is a picture from the baby shower last Saturday.  3 of us girls are pregnant and due right around the same time.  Carla (right) and I are both in the same cohort at K-State and Jenna is the wife of the other male in our cohort (Cole).  Anyway, I'm due first, then Jenna, then Carla. Woo hoo!
